While the spread of the virus might feel unavoidable, keeping your home clean during this pandemic is the best practice to prevent the COVID-19.
Before we go in depth, let us first learn the difference between cleaning & disinfecting.
Cleaning is an important first step to remove dirt from surfaces, whereas disinfecting, on the other hand, is killing the bacteria, viruses, and other microbes on a surface.
How to clean & disinfect?
If you need to make your own disinfectant solution, mix 4 teaspoons of bleach and 950 ml of water. Pour into a bottle and shake vigorously. Spray on surface and let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping it away with a wet cloth.
For soft surfaces like rugs, carpets & curtains, it is best if you can put them on a laundry with warm water setting and dry at a slightly high temperature. Otherwise, you may use an appropriate cleaner for this surface and use a steam cleaner.
For devices such as mobile phones & tablets, use alcohol-based wipes containing at least 70% alcohol. Make sure you remove your case and clean underneath. Focus on the screen, buttons and anywhere dust tend to get trapped.
That being said, no matter how often you are disinfecting, you should wash your hands regularly with soap for at least 20 seconds, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
