Making your own Bubble Tea

30 November 2020 by Eyra

Staying at home is not easy, atleast for some of us. And surely we do have our sweet cravings every now and then. To get you through this, let us share how you can now make your very own bubble tea, at the comfort of your own home.

What is a bubble tea?
If you don’t already know, bubble tea is a Taiwanese drink made by blending a tea base with milk, then topped it off with the signature tapioca pearls - also known as Boba.

The Pearls:

  1. Prepare a sugar syrup by mixing hot water with brown sugar (you can use white sugar too)
  2. Put the pre-packed pearls into a boiling water for 5 - 7 minutes.
  3. Stir it lightly so it won’t stick to the bottom and let it float to the top.
  4. Once the pearl has been cooked, drain the water & run it with lukewarm water to stop the cooking process.
  5. Pour the pearls into a container & add in your sugar syrup. Let the pearl sit for 5-10 minutes in the sugar syrup for it to absorb the sweet flavor.

The Tea:

  1. Prepare your tea by steeping the tea bags into a hot water. Allow enough time for it to cool, or desired flavor is achieved.
  2. Refrigerate your tea.

Once you are ready to serve your bubble tea, pour your prepared tea into a glass and add the pearl. Add milk for a creamy bubble tea, or fruit syrup for a refreshing fruity tea.

There you have it - your very own bubble tea.
